GOUTTE d'OR - 2013
Stop Motion Short Film
by Christophe Peladan
Pirate zombies play music. Naked woman wears an octopus for a wig.
I think that's Christophe Peladan's GOUTTE d'OR. The naked woman is some kind of Sea Witch, what with her riding a broom. And yeah, she seems bald but for the crab-eyed Octopus who is both a wig and her protector.
Though her allure and charm is enough to wake the dead, but what can a poor pirate zombie offer in return to win her heart?
It's weird enough, and original enough, that it holds my interest and pays off in the end. In short, I really like it. I also liked the after credit wrap up, so wait for it.
However, this beautifully animated and shot 11 minute short was not low budget. According to GOUTTE d'OR, GOUTTE d'OR cost €430,000 or $489,920.50!
This is all Christophe has done so far, but even with a team as extensive as Peladan has, stop motion animation takes time, so I'm looking forward to more from him.
