BILLION DOLLAR BATMAN
by Brandon Gray
After months of teetering on the brink of $1 billion in worldwide box office revenue, THE DARK KNIGHT has officially reached the milestone, distributor Warner Bros. announced today. The Batman sequel is the fourth movie in history to hit the mark, behind Titanic, THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RETURN OF THE KING and PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MAN'S CHEST.
Breaking the worldwide gross down, The Dark Knight has made a phenomenal $533.1 million domestically and $468 million overseas. It's the only movie in the Top 20 of the all time worldwide chart where the domestic gross exceeds the foreign gross, which is a common trait among comic book-based pictures.

UPDATE - 03 -10-2008
The untimely death of Heath Ledger made any promotion or marketing for DARK KNIGHT seem crass. But now its March and the studio is carefully getting back into gear. Ledger fans shouldn't take any umbrage at this. After all, this is Ledger's last movie (the jury is still out on how much appearance - if any - he may have in THE IMAGINARIUM OF DOCTOR PARNASSUS).

Dark Knight fails to light up Hong Kong
The latest Batman film appears to have its work cut out battling a dastardly trio of enemies while on location in Hong Kong. In the past week The Dark Knight has been biffed by a Hollywood legend, kapowed by environmental groups and generally walloped by the mass indifference of local residents.

Joker looking for new clowns - ARG promotes new Dark Knight movie
By Matt Keyser
It began with a few one-dollar bills. Found at the San Diego Comic-Con, the bills had been defaced with the web address whysoserious.com, which led to a website where the Joker (the Batman villain) offered jobs as henchmen, with a prize for those willing to run his gauntlet. Before the day was over, fans had gathered at a specified location in San Diego specified by the site to read a phone number written in the sky, and followed an elaborate scavenger hunt around the city which ended with one fan being "abducted" and "murdered" by armed thugs who mistook him for the real Joker.

Keysi Fighting Method takes on Hollywood
by Mark Pollard
There is a new screen fighting art that is taking Hollywood by storm and it isn't from China or the world of mixed martial arts. Big-budget actioners MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 3 and BATMAN BEGINS both employ this punishing close-quarter technique in their screen fighting sequences and audiences are going to see it again in the forthcoming Batman sequel THE DARK KNIGHT.

['DARK KNIGHT' EXCLUSIVE] CHRISTIAN BALE: BEHIND THE COWL
The Welsh actor is the son of a circus performer and is trained in ballet and guitar
By Bob Thompson
For such a complex actor, Christian Bale is a fairly uncomplicated guy. He doesn’t have an entourage or an attitude and when he describes what he does for a living, he has a sense of humor about his self-involved ways.

'The Dark Knight' Delivers Sensory Orgasm in IMAX Prologue Before 'I Am Legend'
By Adam Fendelman
I went to screen "I Am Legend" on Wednesday to experience "The Dark Knigh". That statement doesn't speak grimly about my feelings for Will Smith. I was looking forward to learning his legend and I’m glad I did. The night at Chicago's Navy Pier IMAX, though, went to its first six minutes with the Joker as the star.

The Dark Knight's Viral Marketing Gets Very Real - Cakes, Cell Phones and All!
by Alex Billington
A couple of weeks ago we were following the latest viral marketing campaign online for The Dark Knight pretty closely. An online version of the fictional newspaper The Gotham Times arrived and was followed by numerous websites, including a defaced Joker version of the paper called The Ha Ha Ha Times and even a website for the Gotham City Rail with a subway map of the city. This whole campaign is on the other end of the spectrum of the teaser poster - this stuff is absolutely brilliant. I followed up on this whole viral campaign earlier today and discovered I'd missed something HUGE! The Joker has been recruiting, and I mean quite realistically!
