Short Film and music by Jamin Winans

He fell from the sky. Then two cases fell after him. He looked up to the sky with anger, as if punished unjustly. He gathered the two cases and wiped the lipstick kiss from his cheek, storming off down an alley.

SPIN by Jamin Winans and starring Jonny Hayz II as Scratch* the DJ, is probably the short film you're trying to remember. Writer and Director Jamin made it the same year he made his feature film, INK.

Filmmaker and musician Jamin Winans has his own Wikipedia Page.

The DJ who falls from above is named Scratch in the credits. Scratch is one of the names of the devil in Western folklore.

INTERVIEWS

Interview: Jamin Winans of Ink
The concept of a little girl lost in a strange world populated with monsters is nothing new, which is exactly one of the strengths of Ink. The urban fantasy—written and directed by local filmmaker Jamin Winans, who cast and shot the film entirely in Colorado—centers around Emma, a child snatched from her bed one night by a horrifying creature named Ink and dragged through a netherworld full of frightening visions. But the film uses those familiar tropes as a framework for a far richer story, one that taps into the power of dreams, family, and second chances.

Interview with Filmmaker Jamin Winans
FS: What are your beginnings in pursuing film? What made you get started? What keeps you going?

JW: I was interested in filmmaking since I was 10. We didn't have a television most of my childhood, so naturally I was very interested in it. I started making movies with friends and by the time I was 13 I was hooked. Like a lot of kids I made a lot of really fun and really bad short films by shooting VHS and editing on two VCRs. But by the time I was 17 I was attempting a lot more dramatic work and made my first VHS feature film.

I've kept going because there's nothing I enjoy more than storytelling and the art of filmmaking. Almost every part of the process is painful, but there's something incredible about making your dreams a reality.
