THE WEBSERIES |

Back in the winter of 2009, I went down to San Diego to help my bro, Kelly Parks, make his webseries, THE CRUSADER. He'd been sending me his scripts for months and they were hysterical.
He met Vernon E. Mortensen at The San Diego Filmmakers Group and they went to a few film festivals that were showing Vernon's short movie, and met other short filmmakers including Colin Cunningham (THE 6th DAY, DA VINCI'S INQUEST, STARGATE SG-1, THE COLLECTOR), a character actor who wowed everyone with his short and devastating thriller, CENTIGRADE. Kelly and I already knew actor Gary Graham (HOLLYWOOD KNIGHTS, ALL THE RIGHT MOVES, ALIEN NATION [TV], STAR TREK: ENTERPRISE [TV]) as he was a regular feature of Genre conventions like the San Diego Comic Con. But could Kelly and Vernon really pull together a virtual no budget webseries based on little more than a tight and funny script? Lesson learned: An actor wants to act, and they especially want to act in good roles. THE CRUSADER was largely shot in a single parking lot, one day at Kelly's apartment, and one day at an industrial park that had too many empty offices and not enough leasers. Budding filmmakers? Take note of all of that. Now, however, writer/Director Kelly Parks (UNIVERSAL DEAD) has re-cut THE CRUSADER from a webseries into a short film. This is a Special Director's Cut of what was originally an eight episode web series, starring Gary Graham, Matt Bradford, Ron Choularton, Annemarie Pazmino, and Colin Cunningham, from TNT's "FALLING SKIES".
THE CRUSADER is a mockumentary about Paul Weebler. A simple man who realizes there are so many problems in the world that if you try to solve them all, your effort will be split so many ways you'll accomplish nothing. That's why you've got to pick something and make that your crusade. But some choices are better than others.
