H.R. Giger Returning to Work on 'Alien' Prequel

H.R. Giger is On for the Alien Prequel
Good news for those who like their alien spaceships properly oozing, dark, and pseudo-sexual: H.R. Giger is now confirmed as a contributor to Ridley Scott's new Alien prequel. Giger is the artist who designed all of the alien looks in the original sci-fi horror flick, and so it is he who we can thank for those extraterrestrials known sometimes as xenomorphs, but more commonly called simply, significantly, aliens.

Will Ridley Scott's Alien prequel make a groundbreaking scene?
The 'Brokeback Alien' rumours couldn't get any more off the planet. But so what? As long as the film enters new territory
You know it's been a slow news week when pretty much the most enticing morsel out there is the bizarre leak (or possibly hoax) that Ridley Scott's forthcoming Alien prequel may centre on two male humans forced into sexual intercourse by their extra terrestrial overlords.

Alien Prequel Plot Details Leaked?
What's Playing has gotten their hands on what they claim to be the Untitled Alien Prequel script, written by Jon Spaihts with revisions from Lost's Damon Lindelof. Some intriguing details have emerged from this report, with What's Playing citing a story that is a "much deeper, more profound character study" than any other installment in the original Alien franchise.

Fox Flips for Damon Lindelof's Alien Prequel Script, Wants Natalie Portman to Star
Vulture just got word: Lost co-creator Damon Lindelof turned in his new draft of the screenplay for Ridley Scott's Alien prequel on Saturday, and 20th Century Fox execs are very pleased with it indeed! We're told all involved parties have been made to sign nondisclosure agreements about the plot, but our spies have been able to glean several interesting nuggets about the project, which is set roughly 35 years before Scott's dystopic classic. Here's what we know ...

Ridley Scott Confirms ALIEN Prequel Will Be Shot in 3D and He Wants to Make 2 Prequels!
At the junket for Robin Hood, Steve asked director Ridley Scott whether the upcoming Alien prequel would be shot in 3D. Scott's answer: "Absolutely." However, he mentioned that the problem with shooting in 3D is that you can't shoot in low light. Since an Alien movie obviously can't be all sunshine and rainbows, they'll be working on the lighting issue in post.

Exclusive: Ridley Scott Reveals 'Alien' Prequel Details
'I've always avoided sequels, unless I felt there was something fresh,' director says of returning to 1979 classic.

Problems Filling The Director's Chair Puts 'Alien' Prequel In Doubt
In space, no one can hear you scream. Not so on the internet, it turns out.
When rumors broke that an "Alien" prequel was in the works -- to be produced by Ridley Scott and his brother Tony Scott, with newcomer Carl Rinsch attached to direct -- longtime fans of the franchise instantly grew squeamish at the news. Interestingly, "Alien" enthusiasts aren't the only ones who are skeptical.

The plot-obstacles to an Alien prequel
Collider's scoop last Friday managed to semi-calm the blast wave of fanboy wrath (some of it ours) at the notion that Ridley Scott's original Alien was to be remade. Turns out the planned film is a prequel. Whether this kills the possibility of Alien 5 or realises it (the Alien multiverse was already spaghetti junction - could the new film be considered Alien 0?), a lot of Top 10 Contenders For New Ripley lists have been ripped up half-written, and that's a good thing.

Ridley Scott Will Direct An 'Alien' Prequel
One of the more unsettling stories of the past few months was the news that Fox was planning a prequel to the classic and battered "Alien" franchise. Everyone, including the studio, was squeamish about the idea unless Ridley Scott himself came back to direct. That seemed pretty unlikely since the director never touched the franchise after its 1979 debut. Apparently movie miracles do happen, as Fox and "Alien" fans have gotten their wish.
