JAN. 30 And on March 27, Warner will speak at "Wordstruck," the 2004 Literature Conference of Fairfax County Public School librarians, in Vienna, VA. LAIMO IS IN DEEP Michael Laimo's (ATMOSPHERE) second novel, DEEP IN THE DARKNESS, published by Leisure Books, is now available. John Passarella, Bram Stoker Award-Winning Author of WITHER'S RAIN, says "In ATMOSPHERE, Michael Laimo mined fear through a layer of urban grit and decay. Now, with DEEP IN THE DARKNESS, Laimo delivers claustrophobic horror in, of all places, the great outdoors." It just might be worth your while! (Feo says, "The title is not to be confused with that other fine Horror novel, DEEP IN DARKNESS PEERING, by Tom Picirrili.") JAN. 29
THE BREED
ON SCIFI THE BREED. I liked the Alternate History/Jewish ghetto take on vampires. AND it just so happened that Chris Gage and his then fiance (now wife) Ruth, wrote the screenplay. So this Saturday, after a few years on DVD (and still available), THE BREED, starring Adiran Paul (THE HIGHLANDER), Bokeem Woodbine (WISHMASTER 2), and Bing Lai (THE CROW), makes SciFi channel debut, January 31, at 9pm. Check out scifi.com for complete information.

ANOTHER DAY, ANOTHER KNIGHT To this list of success stories, we now add feoamante.com contributor Brian Knight. As a writer, Brian is the first of the group to get a hard cover pro fiction book available in bookstores everywhere. In his new novel, FERAL, Shannon Pitcher is a woman trying to forget the brutal murder of her ex-husband and the loss of her only daughter. Fate brings her to a lost, scared little girl named Charity at the gate of an abandoned and haunted place called Feral Park. Now she must save Charity from the same Bogey Man who killed her own daughter, and from the wild children of Feral Park. Congratulations Brian!

TO BE BACK! Okay, bottom line? I hadn't had this Dell computer for 1 year when the CD RW/DVD combo failed (and which, judging by the performance of the second one they sent me, was bad from the start!). I hadn't had this same computer for 2 years when the hard drive had a hard crash. That means there is no recovery - not even with boot back up on the same disk. Not even with an emergency back up disk! So as a replacement they send me a used - refurbished - hard drive (I can't buy my own, Dell uses special slot connections instead of the industry standard pin connections). Then, after installing the basic Operating system software - from Dell - and my anti-virus and firewall: the used hard drive crashes! For this I bought Dell's extended warranty? Over a week later and many phone calls to tech support, I realized that there was no way in hell Dell was about to replace their replacement. The software tech guy (the only one in the U.S. and the snottiest), made the knee-jerk flippant, and of course, unfounded accusation of every ill trained tech support doof: "It must be your software." and refused to do any more. All the other techs tried to be far more helpful, but they didn't know what to do and all of them searched google for an answer in an attempt to help. DELL DOESN'T HAVE A SUPPORT DATABASE FOR THEIR OWN TECHS! THEY HAVE TO SEARCH THROUGH GOOGLE LOOKING FOR ANSWERS FROM OTHER DELL USERS HAVING PROBLEMS THAT CAN'T BE SOLVED BY DELL! Lesson learned? Whatever past glories they once had, Dell is now the Packard Bell of computers. They've lost me for good! Okay, enough whining. Luckily I made backups on disk and - after about a month of putting this hard drive through it's paces (I don't want to get burned three times!) - it's showtime! Tomorrow will herald the new beginning starting with a new advertiser that I've long admired. Stay Tuned for Hump Day! Thanks for the supportive emails! Yall are great! - Feo |
