REAL WORLD
HORROR CONTINUES
No, I'm not talking about the pathetic cowards known world wide as bin
Laden and Sow-kablowy or whatever the hell the thug piss rat calls himself.
I'm referring to the natural catastrophe that has affected the Indian
Ocean countries and their people. The death toll is at 68,000
and still rising. The number of dead
is staggering. The number of loved ones they've left behind is overwhelming.
The Red Cross
needs money. The American Red Cross is not a government agency and all
Red Cross disaster assistance is free thanks to the generosity of people
like you and me. Many of you who read this site have jobs, a marriage,
children, expenses, etc. and even a simple $5 bucks from everyone would
be a great amount. One less latte for the month. One less pack of cigarettes
or whatever small pleasure you can cut out for just one day or one week
to help.
If there
is anyone out there who reads this site but is also wondering what to
do with their life, is just plain broke or feeling between everyhting
in life and connected to nothing, I'd like to suggest that you volunteer
your services to the Red Cross. The ratio of volunteer Red Cross workers
to paid staff is almost 36 to one. Stay where they need you or go where
they send you. What they really need right now is help: physical body
help. Whether working on a computer locally or helping to rebuild a town
in some distant place: If you can think of a better thing to do with your
life than spend a few months giving care and help to those who desperately
need it, your imagination is far better than mine. If you can give money,
great. But if you cannot afford to give money, why not give something
even better? Your time? I haven't asked this since 9/11, but please, if
you can, do your part and volunteer your services to the Red Cross.
Thanks and
soapbox gone.

EMERGENCY
GRANDSTANDING!
Remember how, within 24 to 48 hours of September 11, 2001, those two televangelist
sleezebags, Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson were on the air spewing garbage,
hate and trying to sew dissension among Americans by taking sides with the
terrorists and saying that the U.S. brought this attack upon itself (for
pretty much the very same reasons that Al Quaeda and Osama bin Laden claimed)?
They of course, apologized faster than a Dixie Chick when they realized
that Americans were not in the mood to be divided (just
then).
Keep that
in mind when you read about the latest from UN secretary-general for humanitarian
affairs and emergency relief Jan Egeland (Pronounced
Yawn Egge-land). The U.S.A. gives more money to international causes
and relief than all other countries combined. $15 million from the US
has gone out so far since the catastrophe started (and
considering that everyone was on Holiday and are all running around trying
to get back into place - that's something). The International Red
Cross is still trying to get into these areas where the death toll is
now listed at 33,000 and climbing. Devastation is so wide spread that
the standard forms of communications are out in vast areas, many places
have still not been heard from and International rescue teams are spread
very thin. So this is all happening pretty fast and we have no idea how
much of the money earmarked for aid, if any, is going straight into Jan
England's pocket a la the Oil For Blood scandal that the UN honchos and
their cronies are still trying to launder. Incredible that this ass is
trying to drum up controversial attention for himself at a time like this.

REAL HORROR:
RACISM KILLS
There was an 8.1 earthquake in the ocean between Australia and Antartica
Dec. 24 (Dec. 23 for those east of the IDL.)
Less than 48 hours later, a second, even more powerful earthquake hit
between Australia and India, this one producing a deadly wall of water
that has, so far, killed over 14,500 people. But all of the people who
have died so far, are a mere fraction of those in Uganda who have died
of AIDS specifically because of racism from outsiders promoting ignorance
within. Ironically, these outsiders, claimed to care about the crises
facing the Uganda people. Now the BBC and the United Nations is reporting
that the fall of AIDS is in direct proportion - not to the use of condoms
("Oh! Abstinence won't work! The
Ugandans can't control themselves! It's just thier nature!") - but to a 60% drop in
casual sex with untested partners and the practice of abstinence.

HORROR
POLITICS
If there was one thing going for the Microsoft
XBOX ... no, correction, there was only ONE thing going for the XBox
and everyone knows that it is the game, HALO.
Other people make other games for XBox,
but nobody cares. Bungie's
HALO, and only Bungie's HALO, kept the XBox afloat. Giving someone
the XBox without giving them a copy of Halo is like giving someone a pie
tin without the pie. HALO calls back to the origins of Horror literature,
which was born at the same time as Science Fiction literature, both within
a tale by Mary Shelley called THE MODERN PROMETHEUS - or what most folks
know today as FRANKENSTEIN. Horror stories have come into the Supernatural
realms since then, most notably this season, as A CHRISTMAS CAROL, by
Charles Dickens. But most western kids and quite a few adults only care
about ONE Horror story this season. DOOM 3 and HALF-LIFE 2 may
be competing for your PC dollar, but THE Horror game right now
is HALO 2.
Now James
Pinkerton shows why HALO 2 is about more than Horror, it's about Heroism.
More pointedly, its about modern heroism and the war that the U.S. and
her allies are involved in right now. And like the Cyborg Chief of the
game, technology can also be a hero.
Check out,
Halo
2 and the New Heroism.
Then, if
you haven't heard of them before, take your high speed internet connection
over to Red
vs. Blue. It's a continuing story so you'll want to start off
with the earliest episodes first.

LIMITED
RELEASE HORROR
We've seen a few of them this year (or perhaps,
haven't been able to see them). Horror movies that have all of
the critics raving, yet the movie industry is loathe to give it wide release.
These movies generally have four things going for them that Hollywood
seems reluctant to see in a Horror film:
1. A good story
2. Stunning acting
3. Independent
4. Little gore.
One case
in point would be THE MACHINIST. Another would be SHAUN
OF THE DEAD, (very
little gore for a zombie movie) and the list goes on. It
seems that Hollywood may have forgotten Hitchcock's rule of Horror - You
don't need gore to scare the shit out of people.
Tomorrow
is Christmas Eve, and actor Kevin Bacon (FRIDAY
THE 13TH, TREMORS, FLATLINERS,
STIR OF ECHOES, HOLLOWMAN,
TRAPPED) is in what may turn out to be the most horrific movie
of the year. The creepy, nearly stomach turning play has become the movie,
THE
WOODSMAN.

I am affiliated with a new Hollywood production company and we are on
a worldwide search to find a new unproved director to direct an upcoming
feature film with a horror theme. We need interested parties to send us
a 5-minute VHS tape of themselves explaining why they should be chosen

director and possible other crew members and plan to shoot this horror
movie ... those are all the details we have at this point. The tapes need

HAPPY HORROR
THRILLER BIRTHDAYS TO -
This weekend saw the birthdays of a whole mess of people we haven't celebrated
before.
The Catman of KISS. Or at least he was from 1973 to 1980. Then he wasn't.
Then, 15 years later he was again from 1995 to 2000. Then he wasn't. Then
he was yet again from 2003 to 2004. Then he wasn't. What is he doing now?
I dunno. Big band music maybe? But Happy Birthday to
Musician Peter Criss (KISS. As Actor: KISS
MEETS THE PHANTOM OF THE PARK) who is 58.
There are very few who are more of a staple of Horror Thriller from Hong
Kong than,
Director Ricky Lau (MR. VAMPIRE [all], PI LI
DA LA BA, YOUNG MASTER VAMPIRE, JIANG SHI ZHOU YAO, GUI YAO GUI, DEMON INTRUDER,
ROMANCE OF THE VAMPIRES and way more) is 54.
And on Sunday -
Whatever happened to that Flash dancing chick? Glad you asked. By choice
or chance her main body of work is in Thriller movies. Happy Birthday to
Actor Jennifer Beals (THE BRIDE, VAMPIRE'S
KISS, DOCTEUR M., TERROR STALKS THE CLASS REUNION [TV], INDECENCY, NIGHT
OWL, DEAD ON SIGHT, DEVIL IN A BLUE DRESS, THE PROHECY II, THE SPREE, WITHOUT
MALICE, AFTER THE STORM, RUNAWAY JURY) is 41.
Today's birthday girl started out as a child actress, which means that many
hoped she would mature into an adult actress instead of the usual crash
and burn tales we've come to expect. It was touch and go for a while there,
but things seem to be looking up for her. In fact, since 1994, she has largely
turned her career toward Horror, Thriller, Mystery, and Suspense! So Happy
Birthday to
Actor Alyssa Milano (DOUBLE DRAGON, EMBRACE
OF THE VAMPIRE, DEADLY SINS, POISON IVY II, FEAR, BODY COUNT, CHARMED [TV
- eight seasons and counting]) is 32.
And on Saturday
Actor Katie Holmes (DISTURBING
BEHAVIOR, TEACHING MRS. TINGLE, THE
GIFT, PHONE BOOTH, ABANDON)
is 26. Katie shares a December Birthday with her fellow DISTURBING BEHAVIOR
alumni, Nick Stahl (Dec. 6).
We love him, we dislike him (hate is far too strong
a word and tiredly overused) but there is no denying that either
as a Director or Producer, this birthday boy has created more Horror Thrillers
than any other kind of movie in his panoply (that's
like a resume for godlings). So Happy Birthday to
Writer / Director / Producer Steven Spielberg (NIGHT
GALLERY [TV], DUEL [TV], SOMETHING EVIL [TV], SAVAGE [TV], JAWS,
RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK, POLTERGEIST, TWILIGHT ZONE: The Movie, INDIANA
JONES and the TEMPLE OF DOOM, INDIANA JONES and the LAST CRUSADE, JURASSIC
PARK, THE LOST WORLD,
SAVING PRIVATE RYAN, MINORITY REPORT,
and more) is 58.
Actor Casper Van Dien (NIGHT EYES 4, LETHAL
ORBIT, NIGHT SCREAM, STARSHIP
TROOPERS, MODERN VAMPIRES, SHARK ATTACK, THE
OMEGA CODE, SLEEPY HOLLOW,
PYTHON, SANCTIMONY, SKELETON MAN,

STEPHEN KING IS BANNED AGAIN!
Apparently some New York critics and some North Dakota school officials

King and his writing. What I'm saying here is that Stephen King has
been banned again, this time from a school library that serves, among
others, eighth graders.

TROOPERS movies, ALIEN NATION,
HOLLOW MAN, LEVIATHAN,
and more. In short, if you've never seen their work, then you are wholly
new to Horror movies. Welcome! T&A are currently partners behind the
special effects house that is ADI. They co-wrote a book about their work
together: AVP ALIEN vs. PREDATOR: The Creature Effects of ADI -
which I fully recommend. During their autographing of my copy, they got
into a scuffle in which they wrote.
Tom:
Be sure to ask Alec
about his suit-wearing experience! There is now a picture of Alec next
to "Claustrophobia".
Alec:
Hey man, just because
I get a little uptight when I'm wearing a stinky rubber monster - ya know
what, Tom can keep his stoopid monster suits! I like sitting by the monitors
and schmoozing with the director way more anyway!
HAPPY
HORROR THRILLER BIRTHDAYS TO -
And On Sunday -
Since her break-up with a certain director, today's birthday girl has
been missed by fans who loved her small roles and are hoping to see her
in bigger ones.
Actor Lisa Marie (ED WOOD, MARS ATTACKS!,
SLEEPY HOLLOW, PLANET
OF THE APES) is 36.
Our first birthday boy, when he was a kid, made TV movies like a kid,
but when he was an adult, he started making creepy dramas, venturing into
Horror Thriller, until 2001, when he has made little else. Happy Birthday
to
Actor Nick Stahl (DEAD RUN {TV}, DISTURBING
BEHAVIOR, TABOO, BOOKIES, TERMINATOR
3, CARNIVÁLE [TV]) is 25.
And On Saturday -
Horror actor Tony Todd (VOODOO DAWN, THE
CROW, CANDYMAN [all], WISHMASTER,
SHADOWBUILDER, FINAL DESTINATION
[both])
who is 50.

From Victor
Heck
DOOMED!!!
FeoNote:
Here we go again - yet another writer feeling burned by this same particular
publisher. I've seen or listened to this kind of story about this publisher
many times over the years. This is the first time that a writer felt compelled
to post it on their own website (instead of a message
board on conversation). For newbie writers, and fans of Victor
Heck; those who feel he was wronged and others who might feel he had it
coming (Victor was once a publisher too!),
I present the following from Vic:
I have found
out that every title I wrote or edited, that was published by House of
Dominion/Prime, has been cancelled as of December 1st. Those would be
my novel 'A Darkness Inbred', 'Asylum Vol 2 - The Violent Ward', 'Asylum
Vol 3 - The Quiet Ward', and the killed-in-the-womb 'Asylum 4- Terminal
Wing'. Don't ask me why, they just were. It seems the publisher changed
his mind, at least that's the official reason I was given. I won't take
up tons of room in your email inbox, but please feel free to read all
about the gory details on my website at
The
Padded Room.
HAPPY
HORROR THRILLER BIRTHDAYS -
This birthday girl's classic features get her work in glitter literatti
movies, but she appears to hanker more for the Horror Thriller as evidenced
by the largest body of her work. Happy Birthday to
Actor Julianne Moore (sLAUGHTERHOUSE II,
TALES FROM THE DARKSIDE, CAST
A DEADLY SPELL, THE HAND THAT ROCKS THE CRADLE, BODY OF EVIDENCE,
THE FUGITIVE, SAFE, THE LOST
WORLD: JURASSIC PARK, PSYCHO [1998], HANNIBAL,
EVOLUTION, THE
FORGOTTEN) who is 44.
Fear not, metal fans. His real name is not Ozzy so his birth name was
never Oswald. Happy Birthday to
Musician Ozzy Osbourne (band BLACK SABBATH:
Sabbath, Bloody Sabbath. OZZY: Blizzard of Ozz, Ultimate Sin. Actor: TRICK
OR TREAT) is 54.
Horror Writer and feoamante.com contributor
Harry Shannon (BAD
SEED, NIGHT
OF THE BEAST, NIGHT OF THE WEREWOLF) who is older than
the hills!

HAPPY
HORROR THRILLER BIRTHDAYS TO -
Whether this birthday girl is in action thrillers or crime thrillers,
she has steeped her career in Thrillers! So Happy birthday to:
Actor Lucy Lui (CITY OF INDUSTRY, FLYPAPER,
PAYBACK, TRUE CRIME, BALLISTIC: Ecks vs. Sever, CYPHER, KILL
BILL: Vol. 1) is 36.
Our next actor usually works in that etheral world of film making just
one cloud below direct to video. I'm talking, of course, about late night
made-for-cable movies. Why do people always make these kinds of Horror
Thriller movies? Because bad Horror Thriller movies can make you laugh,
but bad Comedies make you angry. Bad drama bores you and you flip the
channel. And bad Romance better have some good nudity to hold yer interest.
But a bad Horror or Thriller movie? Rare are the times that I won't sit
through that! I've even suffered through some of this guy's flicks. So
Happy Birthday to
Actor Steven Baur (THIEF OF HEARTS, RAISING
CAIN, WOMAN OF DESIRE, CODENAME: Silencer, WILDSIDE, PRIMAL FEAR, NAKED
LIES, STAR PORTAL, TRAFFIC, RAPTOR ISLAND) is 48 and still working.
Horror writer Ray Garton (ALL THAT GLITTERS
[Sabrina the Teenage Witch Series #12], RESURRECTING RAVANA [Buffy the
Vampire Slayer Series], SEX
AND VIOLENCE IN HOLLYWOOD).
